I want my TMJ Migraine to stop!

If you suffer from temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain, chances are you also suffer from migraines. Are you tired of experiencing this double-whammy? Facial joint pain and a tmj migraine?

Pain in the TMJ usually involves tenderness in your chewing muscles, clicking joint sounds when you open your jaw, and sometimes limited jaw movement. As TMJ joint pain affects face and mouth structures and muscles, it often triggers a migraine as well. Then the migraine interrupts your life and usually sends you to a quiet dark room to recover while you miss out on other life events and priorities. It is no fun!

In fact, migraines are debilitating, and they are one of the most common causes of workplace absences. They leave you feeling angry, miserable. Chronic migraines can lead to depression, and negatively impact your relationships.

No one should have to live with recurring TMJ migraines

Dr. Deldar, a Noblesville dentist, believes that everyone deserves a life without TMJ migraines. In fact, Dr. Deldar has 20 years of experience treating patients with TMJ pain. He understands the causes of TMJ and how to successfully treat it. Treatment for TMJ Migraines

TMJ is sometimes referred to as TMD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) which is a broad term for a range of jaw joint problems. Patients with TMJ/TMD have upper and lower jaws which don’t fit together properly. This misalignment causes an uneven bite which results in jaw pain, TMJ migraines and even tooth loss if untreated.

As an expert in Neuromuscular Dentistry, Dr. Deldar treats TMJ in 3 Phases:

Phase 1
He eases your TMJ pain by using a TENS unit (Ultra Low Frequency Transcutaneous Electrical Neural Stimulation). The electrical impulses increase the blood flow which relaxes your jaw muscles. At the same time, the machine stimulates your body’s production of endorphins which helps relieve your pain.

Phase 2
Dr. Deldar will correct your bite with a temporary plastic orthotic mouthpiece to be worn over your lower teeth. He adjusts the mouthpiece without adjusting your teeth until the appliance stabilizes your bite.

Phase 3
Once your bite has been stabilized, Dr. Deldar will choose one of several approaches to permanently correct your bite. These include reshaping teeth enamel, creating permanent removable orthotics on the back teeth, crown reconstruction, or orthodontics.
