Holistic dentist Noblesville

Holistic dentist, Dr. Mike Deldar looks at dentistry from a "whole-body perspective"

People generally don’t associate a visit to a good dentist with their quality of life. But in fact, having those regular dental check-ups is not just about maintaining the health of your teeth and gums. They are about maintaining and improving your quality of life. You are looking for a dentist who focuses on overall health, and only uses safe, non-toxic procedures and materials.

Perhaps you have been frustrated that most dentists do not look at the whole body and they only appear to be interested in fixing teeth. It's very important to find a dentist who you can trust.

A good dentist is an "Early Warning System"

Your oral health and your overall health have some important connections. When a dentist looks into your mouth, they see some remarkable oral clues about your health. It's as if your mouth is a window into the rest of your body.

So your dentist is like an "Early Warning System" who can spot problems your doctor needs to address before they become more serious. For example, early signs of systemic disease like diabetes and HIV/AIDS often show up in the mouth first.

Other conditions that might be linked to oral health include eating disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, certain cancers and an immune system disorder that causes dry mouth (Sjogren's syndrome). Some drugs used to treat osteoporosis carry a small risk of causing damage to the jaw bones. Medications such as decongestants, antidepressants and painkillers can cause dry mouth which causes dental and stomach issues.

Problems in your mouth can lead to bigger problems in your overall health. Oral inflammation from gingivitis may also have a role in clogged arteries and blood clots. Gum infections have been connected to heart attacks and strokes. Periodontitis has been linked to pregnancy and birth complications such as premature birth and low birth weight.

A good dentist will ask you about any changes in your overall health, and also about any medications you are taking. Having this "whole body" approach is how a holistic dentist can play an important role in improving your quality of life. After all, without your oral and overall health, you will experience a reduced quality of life.

Dr. Deldar's mantra is "Improving your quality of life."

Here is what he says about his Noblesville dental office:

"All our dental services have a holistic approach. Today's dentistry is so much more than just fixing teeth. By now we know that your oral health affects your overall health in a very significant way. We believe that our patients require and deserve a physiological, natural, and health focused path towards achieving optimal oral and overall health."

Trust Dr. Deldar as your dentist to use a whole body approach to take care of your oral health, and improve your quality of life.

What does a Holistic Dentist do?

noblesville holistic approach

A holistic dentist, also known as a biological dentist or natural dentist, has a whole-body approach. Biological dentists don’t just treat symptoms. They develop a lasting solution after identifying the root cause of symptoms. They may pinpoint more significant reasons for tooth decay, like diet or diabetes, instead of repeatedly filling cavities.

Non-toxic medicine: Holistic dentists will not expose you to toxic chemicals. For example, a natural dentist may use dental ozone therapy to treat periodontitis.. Mercury filling removal is also frequently offered.

Personalized care: Everyone’s smile is unique. Natural dentists focus on tailor-made solutions instead of a one-size-fits-all approach.

Stop putting up with dentistry that treat each patient identically and stop putting toxic chemicals into your body! Take control of your own health with a holistic approach.

"Our holistic approach: Safe, gentle, and natural"

A holistic approach to dentistry is the right choice for our patients

Without claiming that we function fully as a holistic dental clinic, we work with a whole-body, natural only methodology in mind, because it’s what’s best for our patients in Noblesville. A holistic dentist who takes his patient’s whole health into consideration when practicing dentistry truly is looking out for his patient’s best interests.

Amalgam-free environment

Headaches, brain fog, numbness, mood changes, endometriosis…. They’ve all been linked to heavy metals in our body.

One of the first things to leave our office was amalgam fillings, also known as silver or metal fillings. With the research that’s come to light, we’re not sure why anyone would want to work with this material. Amalgam fillings are hazardous to our patients and to those of us who work here.

The mercury in amalgam fillings has been shown to slowly leak out of the filling material every time a person chews, clenches their jaw, or grinds their teeth. These mercury vapors then get into their bloodstream and can cause a lot of damage to the body.

In addition, those who work with amalgam fillings are constantly exposed to these vapors. The entire office becomes contaminated. Those who experience the effects of exposure don’t even have to be in the treatment room.

Instead of exposing our patients and the dental team to this toxic substance, Noblesville holistic dentist, Dr. Deldar, has decided to eliminate amalgam.

BPA-free filling materials

Dr. Deldar uses composite fillings instead of the mercury-laden amalgam fillings. This brought about another challenge, though, when it came to a holistic approach to dentistry. What about BPA? BPA, or bisphenol A, is a compound that mimics estrogen. This is one of the ingredients that are used in plastic containers and bottles.

Its negative effects are well-researched. The compound is known to contribute to psychological problems, like moodiness or aggressiveness. There are also concerns that it may be linked to certain types of cancers as well.

Our concern was that, even though we removed amalgam fillings, we would be exposing patients to BPA. Many composite filling materials contain this compound. Thankfully, more companies are coming on-board with the holistic approach to dentistry. The result: BPA-free filling materials.

Do holistic dentists extract teeth?

Holistic Dentistry Tooth Pulling Noblesville Indiana

In taking a holistic dentistry approach, Dr. Deldar strives to preserve as much of your organic dentition as possible and to do so with nontoxic, safe materials.

However, there are instances where leaving a tooth intact and rooted in your gums is flat out unsafe for your health and a detriment to your quality of life.

Here are 5 instances where a holistic dentist would extract a tooth:

1. Extreme decay

There are times where not even a root canal can't fix a terribly decayed tooth. Preforming a root canal in this situation could risk further infection and worsened pain. Extraction is your best bet for healing.

2. Excessive damage

Whether you smash a tooth in an accident, by biting down on a really hard food or another unfortunate fluke, the damage done can become beyond repair.

3. Abnormal eruption

The human body is a marvel and a tooth's ability to grow in the most awkward of positions is proof of that. Teeth can sometimes surface from dangerous places within your mouth that can force other teeth to shift and misalign your bite, causing a long list of joint and pain problems. This tooth often needs to get to boot!

4. Bite realignment

A tooth may need to be pulled to in order to fit your mouth properly with an orthodontic device, like metal or clear braces. These devices are designed to structure your bite optimally to prevent conditions like TMJ and other oral damage.

5. Gum disease

In extreme cases of gum disease, teeth can become loose and fragile. This is often accompanied by red, swollen gums that bleed when brushing and flossing as well as relentless bad breath. In the treatment process, a tooth or teeth may sadly need to go.

Dr. Deldar does everything he can to keep your natural teeth in their place and ensure each treatment you receive is minimally invasive.

However, it is also Dr. Deldar's mission to help improve your quality and life. As noted in the list above, there are moments where a tooth absolutely needs to be extracted to cultivate your overall health and wellbeing.

Another holistic service we’ve provided to our patients is laser acupuncture. This is like traditional acupuncture, except instead of using needles we use a laser.

This is a great option for patients who have a difficult time with their gag reflex. We get an amazing response with this method. Patient comfort is our #1 concern.

Healthy dentistry is our ultimate goal

Our ultimate goal when serving our patients is to be conservative. We’re not going to recommend treatment because a patient “might” need it. First, Dr. Deldar,  makes absolutely sure a procedure is needed. Then, he determines how he can take care of the patient’s needs in the most conservative way possible.

That means that all of our restorative procedures are done in a minimally invasive way. We want you to keep as much of your natural dentition as possible. In Dr. Deldar’s own words: “What God gave you is best. Keep it!”
